GroupVestor was founded on a simple principle: Communities should build Communities. GroupVestor is looking to change the way small businesses grow. We provide online solutions to small businesses to raise funds directly from their communities for expansion and investment purposes. Since the recession of 2008, it has been near impossible for small businesses to raise captial to grow. On the other hand, it is expected that small businesses are going to be the major contributors to economic recovery and employment growth.
GroupVestor aims to fill this gap, by allowing small businesses to grow, and allowing communities to benefit directly in return. GroupVestor was founded in January 2010 by a group of students from the University of Waterloo. GroupVestor was selected as one of the teams in the Velocity Bootcamp competition, and has been operating out of the Accelerator Centre since May 2010.
